A family of five was left homeless Saturday evening when a hard to extinguish attic fire severely damaged the large log cabin home at 2651 Plymouth Gageville Road.
The fire was called in around 5:30 p.m. said Sheffield Fire Chief Claude Kobernik. He said seven departments ended up helping fight the blaze and one Sheffield firefighter suffered minor injuries fighting the blaze and was transported to the hospital.
He said the firefighter had minor burns and suffered smoke inhalation but was treated and released from the hospital late Saturday evening.
The fire departments included Sheffield, North Kingsville, Plymouth, Kingsville, Pierpont, Conneaut and Monroe, Kobernik said.
