A woman is in critical condition following at a Gahanna retirement community Thursday morning.
Mifflin Township firefighters responded to a fire alarm at The Worthington Senior Living and Retirement Community in the 1200 block of Riva Ridge Court at 6:13 am, Chief Fred Kauser said.
Kauser believed an employee pulled the 83-year-old woman to the front door of her first-floor unit, which was where crews found unresponsive.
Kauser said the fire started in the woman's kitchen in her apartment.
Thick smoke filled the first floor hallway, but no other injuries were reported, Kauser said.
