A man who has spent nearly 25 years working for Fostoria Fire Division was sworn in as its new chief Tuesday evening. Chief Brian Herbert was sworn in by Mayor Eric Keckler during the Fostoria City Council meeting. Herbert grew up in Luckey and graduated from Eastwood High School in 1986. He received an emergency medical technician and volunteer firefighter certificate about three years later. “I was a volunteer with Troy Township,” he said. Herbert received a fire officers certificate from Owens Community College about 10 years after graduation. He started working full-time in firefighting Feb. 6, 1993, when he began working at Fostoria Fire Division.
