Adam Patterson,11, wants to grow up to be a firefighter just like his dad, who died after an accident inside his firehouse in Highland County.
So Jennifer Patterson, Adam's mom, shared a post on Facebook, asking fire departments to mail Adam a patch for his birthday to collect and hang on his wall. The post now has over one thousand shares and is getting comments from firefighters throughout the state asking where to send their patches.
Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District, where Joe worked, shared the post asking followers to "spread far and wide."
Joe, who was laid to rest June 29, is fondly remembered by hundreds of first responders.
"(He was) dedicated and well liked by everyone who knew him," Norman said.
"Never an unkind word," Jackman said. "Always above and beyond to help - an all-around great guy was Joe Patterson."
