Bascom Joint Fire District broke ground Saturday for its new central fire station during a ceremony at the site of the build, located west of Meadowbrook Park’s driveway.
The event kicked off the construction of a new and improved 11,500-square-foot building, Bascom Joint Fire District Assistant Chief Chris Daniel said.
Daniel said the fire district’s crew are looking forward to more parking, more room and a facility that will enhance what they do.
“They (the fire department’s personnel) are most excited for a renewed sense of pride in having a facility that they can adequately respond from,” he said. “The primary purpose of a fire station is for us to get in there and to respond to the scene effectively, quickly and safely. The whole purpose of a station is to provide a space that allows us to do that.”
