Lawrence Township trustees chose not to put a five-year 2.9-mill fire levy on the November ballot until fire officials from the Lawrence Township and North Lawrence fire departments have produced written documents clearly spelling out how combining the two departments would work. Instead, trustees told the fire chiefs of both departments they would consider adding the fire levy to the ballot if they could produce the documents by their next meeting on July 30. North Lawrence Fire Chief Jason Rock said most of the work is done. It just needs to be put down on paper. The deadline to file the ballot language with the Stark County Board of Elections for the November ballot is Aug. 6.
