Columbus assistant fire chief to become new chief in Fort Worth

Columbus Fire Assistant Chief Jim Davis is leaving to become the new fire chief in Fort Worth, Texas. Davis, 54, joined the Columbus Division of Fire in November 1988. He was promoted to assistant chief in April 2016 and had led the Training and Emergency Medical Services Bureau until May. Since May, Davis had lead the division’s administration bureau. During his time in Columbus, Davis helped develop the division’s RREACT team to respond to people suffering from addiction issues. He also worked with the Columbus Division of Police in training their officers to administer naloxone to suspected opioid overdose patients. Before joining Columbus Fire, Davis worked as a firefighter/paramedic at the Westerville Fire Department from 1984 until 1988.
