Former Avon Lake fire chief pleads out on coercion

The former chief of the Avon Lake Fire Department pleaded guilty July 17 to a trio of misdemeanors. Glen Eisenhardt, 41, of Medina, was indicted by a Lorain County grand jury June 11, 2017, on single counts of extortion, unauthorized use of property and telecommunications fraud. As part of a plea agreement with the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office, Eisenhardt pleaded guilty to charges of coercion, attempted unauthorized use of property and attempted telecommunications fraud. According to court documents, the amended indictment holds a possible penalty of 450 days in jail and a fine of $2,750.Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis Will said the biggest penalty is that Eisenhardt’s certifications to be firefighter were revoked and he no longer can act as a public servant.
