Harpersfield tradition set to start on Friday

The Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department is set to host the 44th annual Beef Roast Festival over the July 20 -22 weekend at the Community Recreation Center on Cork-Cold Springs Road, just west of Route 534. Volunteers and firefighters will begin cooking the beef on Thursday and it will be ready to eat by the time the festival begins on Friday at 5 p.m. Beef roasted over an open fire sandwiches, fries, onion rings, pizza and lots of other snack foods will be available, along with all kinds of beverages, like fresh squeezed lemonade, sodas and beer. Admission and parking are free. Harpersfield Fire Chief Everett Henry said, “This year for the first time, overflow parking will be handled at Cork Elementary School, with a lighted walking path through the woods to the festival.”
