After holding a similar event last year, the city has announced that its next Public Safety Forum, "The Growing Opioid Epidemic and How it Affects Our Community," will take place at 7 p.m. March 21 at the Cuyahoga County Public Library's Parma Branch. "Last year's forum was the most well attended," Mayor Tim DeGeeter said. "Obviously, there's a crisis out there. We thought this would be good timing. This year, we have the police and fire departments making presentations, as well as representatives from University Hospitals Parma Medical Center and MetroHealth." Parma Director of Public Safety Thomas Weinreich said the city holds quarterly forums, which over the last year have also covered fire prevention around the holidays and personal safety.
