Two young boys and two firefighters were taken to the hospital after an early morning fire in Lima.
Fire officials say a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old were rushed to St. Rita's with serious burns, along with the firefighters whose injuries were said to be minor. They were among those called out to a two-story house at 625 West Elm Street just before 5 a.m. Two children were still trapped on the porch roof and were lowered down by a police officer and firefighter. The 2-year-old had to be rescued from inside the burning porch. Four other children, the oldest being 14, escaped with just some minor injuries.
Police believe the kids were all from the same family. Fire officials say there were no adults home at the time of the fire. The fire started on the first-floor living room, but the cause is still under investigation. There was around $35,000 in damage.
