The Zanesville Fire Department presented their Fill the Boot check to the MDA on Tuesday, October 9th.
Every year the Zanesville Fire Department holds a Fill the Boot fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Pat Cusick, Executive Director of MDA Central Ohio and West Virginia, said it’s great seeing what good the funds do and meeting the firefighters that do a lot for the fundraiser.
“The support of the firefighters is critical to MDA. Their one of our oldest partners. Fill the Boot has been going on for 64 years and in that time firefighters across the country have raised $600,030,000 for MDA. Not least among them, Zanesville local 88 will bring in about $10,000 each year,” Cusick said.
MDA was founded to find a cure so the top program the money raised goes to is research and the other major program funded is the summer camp for children. Firefighter Chad Brock said with the help of the community, the ZFD succeeded their goal.
