One woman is dead after a house fire in Toledo Wednesday morning. The Lucas County coroner identified the woman as Gloria Wiggins Scott, 61. Firefighters tell 13abc the blaze broke out inside a home on E. Streicher, near E. Central and Lagrange. According to a deputy chief on the scene, Scott was found on the second floor of the house. No one else was inside the home. Several animals, including a dog and bird, also died in the fire. "She was a very good person," said her sister-in-law, Sandra Wiggins. "She didn't have any children of her own, but she was a mother to all her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews." Wiggins said her sister-in-law lived alone. Authorities on the scene say the fire started in the front of the home and spread. Firefighters quickly contained the flames, but Scott was unresponsive when crews arrived. First responders worked to resuscitate her, but she did not survive. Officials tell 13abc the home did not have any working smoke detectors. Investigators are working to determine how the fire started.
