A small fire claimed the lives of three residents at Glenburn Green Apartments.
Huber Heights Fire Chief Mark Ashworth tells 2 NEWS that they received a call for assistance around 2:30 pm after neighbors notified authorities of an “unusual smell” coming from a nearby unit.
In the 911 call, a neighbor asks for a welfare check to be performed at the apartment, saying their front window was covered with flies and that their cars had not moved in two to three weeks.
Upon arrival, there was no active fire for firefighters to extinguish, but signs indicated that at one point there had been a small fire in the residence.
The Coroner arrived on scene and determined that three individuals had died as a result of the fire.
Authorities are trying to determine the cause and source of the fire.
Fire alarms were present in the home but it is unclear if they went off.
