An arson investigator was called out early Wednesday after fires were reported at three vacant Youngstown homes within ten minutes of each other. City firefighters were first called out to a burning home on the 400 block of Salt Springs Road just after midnight. Five minutes later are fire was reported at another West Side home on Midland Avenue. Five minutes after that, a third call went out to another vacant home; this one on Parkview Avenue on the city's South Side. No one was injured. Midland Avenue was the same street where three suspicious house fires broke out on August 15. That same night firefighters also battled flames on Mahoning Avenue and Wellington Avenue. The city fire department has been closing fire stations on a rotating basis since early July to save money.
