VIDEO/PHOTOS: A 3-alarm fire tore through a condominium complex in Olmsted Falls Thursday morning, destroying 48 units and leaving dozens of people without a home.
Two firefighters and a woman were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire broke out just after 10:30 a.m. at the Chandler Lane Condominiums. A total of 13 departments responded, as temperatures soared near 90 degrees. Yet even bigger than the flames, were the hearts of those who helped.
By nighttime, people dropped off food and water at City Hall. On Facebook, Angelina’s Pizza made an offer to cook free food for those who were affected.
It was shared hundreds of times.
“We got a couple of calls probably as soon as it went out,” said Chase Moore, Angelina’s Pizza. “We all like giving to the community. We all like giving back.”
