As nearly every Colerain first responder was attending the funeral services for a fallen Colerain police officer, another tradition of respect was quietly playing out miles away. It began when an alarm dropped at a Colerain fire station for an apartment fire just about the time the services for fallen Officer Dale Woods began. “We were dispatched for a structure fire with injuries,” said Battalion Chief Tim Beach, who was one of the few Colerain Township firefighters on duty. Other departments had staffed the Colerain fire station. “We would not have been able to respond to this the way we have without the support of our mutual aid friends from the other departments that are covering us today during officer Woods’ funeral,” Beach said. Crews from Glendale, Harrison, Forest Park, Springfield Township and Delhi, among others all responded and put the fire out. One resident was transported to a hospital.
