Crews evacuated about 100 people from a motel fire early Friday morning, according to Fairfield Fire Chief Donald Bennett. The fire started at about 3:17 a.m. at Budget Inn at 4670 Dixie Highway, police said. No one was injured. Bennett said 42 rooms were occupied. Crews went door to door to wake people up and get them out of the building. Twelve people were overnight guests at the hotel. The rest of the people evacuated live at the Budget Inn. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist people who have been displaced; a shelter has been established at the Fitton Family YMCA in Hamilton.
