Columbus firefighters braved artic temperatures in the single digits and teens Monday morning while working to put out a small fire at a Chinese restaurant in east Columbus. Also, on scene of the blaze was volunteer group Box 15. "They really help us out a lot keeping our guys warm and fed and able to carry on with the rest of their day,” said Battalion Chief David Baugh with the Columbus Division of Fire. Box 15 is a nonprofit that helps firefighters in extreme weather conditions. Inside a converted ambulance, the group has food, hot drinks, dry socks, hand warmers and other supplies to help first responders. The group also uses a kerosene heater to create a warming station for firefighters. Box 15 president Joe O’Brien is a former fighter who said he notices the appreciation from the people they serve.
