Portland Fire & Rescue extinguished a fire that burned the garage of a home in north Portland Monday night. Crews responded to the fire in a detached garage at 8576 N Tyler Avenue at about 7:18 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from Portland Fire & Rescue. Flames were coming out of the sides of the garage when firefighters arrived. Some firefighters searched the house while others put out the flames. The fire was extinguished before it spread to the house and all residents exited safely. The garage fire was started by an overloaded amp breaker and damaged a motor home and house. The fire caused about $10,000 in damages to the garage.
