Crews responded to a fire at the Shady Brook Lumber facility in North Plains Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported at around 5:30 p.m. at the facility off NW Jackson School Road. Firefighters put out the fire in about 15 minutes. The fire started in a kiln, which was a big metal building used to dry wood pallets. The pallets were stacked from the floor to the ceiling. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
