At 8:55 this morning, North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District #1 was dispatched to a call of smoke seen in the area of SW Bard and Galley Streets in Lincoln City. First arriving unit, Duty Officer Dennis Knudson observed smoke coming from the eaves and chimney of the house located at 1935 SW Harbor and noticed an injured woman lying near the front of the building outside an open window. Captain Knudson quickly called for a second alarm, as he moved the woman to a safer location with assistance from another North Lincoln volunteer who was in the area at the time of the call. The woman, 58 year old Cindy Clark, suffered burns to her face, hands and feet was taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital by Pacific West Ambulance. Lincoln City police arrived on scene and approximately 16 North Lincoln firefighters responded in two engines, a ladder truck and several rescue vehicles, quickly extinguishing the fire that had started and was contained to the living room. The home was severely damaged by smoke and heat, and is uninhabitable at this time. The three bedroom home is estimated to be valued at around $150,000 according to county records.
