A two-alarm fire led to the evacuation of 16 people at a duplex in Salem. Firefighters responded to the duplex on the 4800 block of Chinook Court Southeast at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday. More than 20 firefighters worked to contain the fire. Firefighters said 12 people on the south side of the duplex evacuated safely, as did four people on the north side of the building. Nobody was injured in connection with the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
