Firefighters responded to a house on West Jackson Street with smoke coming from its attic on Monday night. A 15-year-old boy was in the house at the time sleeping, according to fire crews. They were able to get him out of the home safely. No one got hurt. 7 fire engines and 3 Command personnel were present at the incident as the fire was fully controlled in just over an hour. Investigators say the residence did not have working smoke alarms at the time of the fire They are focusing their investigation in the area of the fireplace and chimney of the home.
