A structure fire sparked in the early morning hours of October 24 on the 400 block of Homewood Road. Upon reporting to the scene, firefighters found flames coming from the roof around the chimney and around the front door. All occupants of the home made it out safely. The cause of the fire was determined to be from a flue fire. The wood stove in the basement caught fire and it traveled up all floors to the roof. Rural Metro Fire reminds residents who use wood stoves during the colder months to make sure they are inspected and cleaned before using. Also, they say to make sure smoke alarms are properly working.
