A mother and her 5-year-old son narrowly escaped their burning pick-up truck along Highway 26 near Banks Wednesday afternoon.
A witness told KATU News he stopped to help the woman after she pulled over when the cab of her truck began filling with smoke. He said he helped her empty and entire fire extinguisher on the flames, and an ODOT worker emptied another but the fire had started to spread to the whole truck.
"I told her we weren't going to be able to save the truck and she knew that that was probably true and just backed away," Aaron Dunbar said.
Once firefighters arrived, they were able to quickly put out the flames. The truck was a complete loss but luckily, no one was injured.
