These days about four staff members with Jackson County Fire District Four respond to a call. This is thanks to federal grant funding that expires next year. Without it, Fire Chief Rod Edwards said this department will only have one employee a day and volunteers when they're available. "Having more people show up immediately at your emergency and then the other huge plus for us has been that we can handle more than one 9-1-1 call at a time," Edwards said. The fire chief said with new tax funding through Measure 15-168 full staffing could be possible, and would hopefully maintain the health of his crew.
