A man died Thursday afternoon in Portland after jumping from the Burnside Bridge onto the floating dock of the Eastbank Esplanade, police said. Emergency crews responded about 12:30 p.m. to reports of the jump and found the man dead from his injuries. At least one bystander appeared to be trying CPR on the man as emergency workers arrived. Investigators closed the Eastbank Esplanade and floating dock near the bridge while they investigated, police said. They didn't release the man's name. Officials reminded the public that help is available for people considering suicide.
