The Chetco Bar Fire is now estimated at more than 300 acres, based on more accurate mapping. Road and trails are being closed as a precaution. Fire spokesperson Melissa Cano stressed on Thursday that the upgraded size of the fire is due to better mapping and does not necessarily mean it suddenly grew overnight. Nevertheless, the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest is putting certain road and trail closures in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness in effect immediately.
