A row of arborvitae trees next to a Eugene duplex caught fire Wednesday evening and torched the outside of a garage, Eugene Springfield Fire said. Firefighters responded to the report of the fire in the 5200 block of Donohoe Avenue at 5:30 p.m. When the fire department arrived, some neighbors had already begun fighting the flames. "They deserve a lot of credit for their quick action and quick thinking and literally saved the house from being more involved than what is currently suffered," said Cpt. Mike Montgomery.
