Firefighters recovered the body of a 25-year-old man who drowned Tuesday after jumping into the Three Pools area on the North Fork River. The man's friends told Marion County Sheriff's deputies that they were swimming at the recreation area when about 4 p.m. the man jumped from a cliff, went underwater and did not resurface. Search & rescue teams worked into the evening hours trying to find the man, however they were unable to locate him. Kayakers called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday to say that they may have found the man downriver. Crews from the Salem and Jefferson Fire Departments recovered his body early Thursday morning. Officials will release the man's name once family members have been notified of his death.
