Medford Fire-Rescue battled a house fire Monday at 5 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to the single-family home at 2925 Winter Nell to find light smoke.
At one point as firefighters prepared to attack the fire, a family dog ran back into the home.
The dog was found safe in his kennel and was returned to his family waiting outside.
After making sure all occupants were safely outside, crews extinguished the fire, which was contained to one bedroom.
The home sustained about $8,000 in damage according to the fire department.
