Authorities in Washington County say they are investigating a fire that destroyed an unoccupied home in the North Bethany neighborhood Tuesday night, making it the third suspicious blaze to occur in the area in as many months.
Tualatin Valley & Fire rescue responded to the blaze near the intersection of Northwest Catapla and Northwest 168th streets around 8:45 p.m., said Deputy Jeff Talbot, a spokesman for the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze that had engulfed the entire high-end home -- which was in the final stages of construction -- and kept it from spreading to other nearby residences, some of them occupied, authorities said.
