Fire agencies in southern Douglas County extinguished two mill fires Monday morning. Riddle, Myrtle Creek, Canyonville-South Umpqua, and Tri City fire departments were paged to a commercial fire at D.R. Johnson Lumber Company at 9:48 a.m. Monday. Officials say the fire was burning in a chip bin. Crews were still suppressing the fire at 10:38 a.m. when the departments were paged to another commercial fire at the Roseburg Forest Products (Engineered Wood Products) plant for a fire in the chip bins, the report said. Riddle, Myrtle Creek, and Tri City fire crews responded and, due to the D.R. Johnson fire, the Riddle department requested assistance from Winston-Dillard and Lookingglass fire departments.
