A Salem barn and home, believed to be vacant, were declared a total loss after a three-alarm fire on Sunday morning that investigators later ruled an arson. Oregon State Police said the fire was "suspicious" and are now investigating it as an arson. Marion County and Salem-Keizer Fire had the flames under control by 4 a.m. The fire started around 3 a.m. on Ward Drive near Fisher Road. Investigators haven't determined a cause for the fire yet. Marion County Fire did say the vacant barn and home were known to have squatters living inside. Transients were also known to live at the location, though it's not known who last occupied the home and barn.
