A garage fire damaged a Southeast Portland home Wednesday morning, Portland Fire and Rescue said. Crews responded to the fire in the 12800 block of Southeast Claybourne Street at 9:30 a.m. As they approached the scene, they saw a column of smoke coming from the structure. When firefighters arrived, they found a fire in the garage. They took off the garage door and sprayed water into the building from outside. The garage eventually collapsed. Firefighters heard small explosions, but a Portland Fire and Rescue official think they were caused by aerosol cans or small fuel tanks. Officials say no one was inside at the time of the fire, but two dogs were rescued. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
