Rural Metro Fire and Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a grass fire on the 2000-block of Ridge Rd Thursday afternoon.
Crews on scene found a 1/10th of an acre fire burning in a woodcutting operation.
"The fire was inside the scar of the 2013 Beacon Hill Fire, and caused quite a stir due to its highly visible location to much of downtown GP," said Rural Metro in a statement.
No suspects were found at the scene, but firefighters figured out that the fire had come from an escaped burn pile.
"The location has been above the fog layer and exposed to sun for several days, allowing the surface grass and brush to become very dry. Due to a lack of rain, firefighters urge caution to anyone burning piles right now. Also, burn piles should not be left unattended."
