A maintenance worker pulled a man from a burning car Friday morning in the parking lot of the Evergreen Acres apartments on Queen Avenue in Albany. Glen Grimps said he noticed the flames just before 9:40 and rushed over to pull David Boatwright from the Subaru hatchback, which was parked in a space at the complex. Grimps said the flames and smoke had become large enough that he was afraid the fire would ignite a nearby fence. He also said Boatwright seemed unaware of what was happening when he got to him. “He said something like, “What’s going on?” said Grimps. Ten Albany firefighters responded within minutes of the emergency call at 2311 Queen Avenue with an engine and a medic unit.
