On Saturday, Jackson County Fire District #5 partnered with Dutch Bros. Coffee in Phoenix to fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle. One hundred percent of the proceeds for the stairclimb, which is scheduled to take place at the Columbia Center on March 11, go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. That money then funds research and treatments for blood cancer patients. "We're climbing 1300 steps, and it's 69 floors. 788 vertical feet," said Curtis Ulrich, a firefighter/paramedic for Fire Disrictg #5. "So we're out here to raise money for leukemia and lymphoma, but we do get to participate in a fun event as well."
