The Grants Pass Fire Department got a special visitor Saturday morning one year after they helped deliver a baby boy into the world. Azrael Grinde turned one-year-old on Friday, marking the anniversary of his not-so-typical birth. His mother, Candace Gardner, said she couldn't make it to the hospital in time when she started going into labor in their Grants Pass home last June. She was forced to have the baby at home, and as he spoke with 911 dispatchers, Axrael's father guided her through the process. A three-man firefighting crew arrived on-scene just in time to help with the delivery. "It was like a movie. It really was," said Gardner. "I could see him (Lt. Wayne Nelson) walking through the door putting on his gloves. It was like, 'there's the baby,' and I pushed and he literally caught him and that was it."
