The Toledo City Manager, has confirmed that long time Toledo Fire Chief Will Ewing is no longer an employee with the city. Ewing stated that he received a letter of suspension on June 4th. This was a disciplinary letter saying that he was insubordinate, threatening and broke policy. There was a disciplinary hearing on June 7th, at which time Ewing denied the accusations as written. As of 11am this morning (6/13/18) Ewing was handed a termination letter. He has been with the city as fire chief since 1999. This is the third long time city employee that has left employment with the city of Toledo. In the last year Nancy Bryant the city recorder and Polly Chavarria the finance director also left employment with the city.
