A woman was sent to the hospital after jumping out a window of a burning home in Coos Bay that firefighters spotted while en route to an unrelated call.
Just after 6 p.m. Thursday, October 11, the Coos Bay Fire Department was responding to a reported carbon monoxide detector activation in the Coos Bay District.
While responding, the crew drove up on a different house that had heavy brown smoke coming out of it.
Units arrived at 6:16 p.m. and found a single-story residence at 1446 N. 14th St. and found a woman lying in the backyard who had jumped out of a bedroom window, the report said.
She was transported by Bay Cities Ambulance to Bay Area Hospital for smoke inhalation and cuts to her hands and arms.
Crews forced entry through the front door and extinguished the fire which had started in the kitchen of the home.
