Firefighters stopped a fast moving brush fire Sunday that started in a vacant lot between Albertsons and a development in the 100 block of Ross Lane. It started about 7:48 p.m. The fire broke out in grassy brush in the middle of a field and burned approximately a 1/4 acre, according to Medford Fire-Rescue. The fire was moving toward homes on W. McAndrews Road and evacuations were considered but were unnecessary after responding units were able to quickly get it under control. Firefighters on the scene tell News 10 transients are suspected but the cause is still under investigation. No injuries were reported. Medford Police are also on the scene assisting with the investigation.
