A woman was found dead inside a Tigard home she shared with her brother after it erupted into flames Thursday morning, authorities said.
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews responded to calls of an emergency at a duplex in the 9000 block of 91st Avenue around 6:45 a.m., said spokeswoman Kim Haughn.
It took two dozen firefighters 10 minutes to bring the burning residence under control.
Crews found a deceased woman inside the charred home, Haughn said. The Washington County Medical Examiner's Office will determine her cause of death.
The woman's brother, who also lives at the residence, managed to escape and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the spokeswoman said.
An occupant in the duplex's adjacent unit was also able to escape uninjured, authorities said. That home sustained heavy smoke damage.
