A vacant building in the city's West End that was being remodeled for a future Laundromat was destroyed by flames on Wednesday.
Fire broke out inside a building in the 100 block of Fairfield Avenue at 5 a.m. and quickly spread to the adjoining building.
A witness, Gary Tokar, said he once lived in the large brick building and he believes the building has been empty for some time. Melissa Teeter said she heard about the fire on her scanner.
"I got here about 7," she said.
"The whole front of the building was on fire. Flames were coming out all of the windows.
"About 10 minutes later, the whole front of the building collapsed," Teeter said.
