A Monday afternoon fire destroyed an Old Bedford Village community theater, leaving charred timber, a collapsed roof and walls and wisps of smoke in its place.
Emergency personnel received a call about the fire at Gardner Memorial Theater about midday, according to Bedford County Director of Emergency Services David Cubbison.
The cause of the fire is unknown. State police and a fire marshal are conducting further investigations.
No one was in the building and no one was injured from the fire, Bedford Fire Department Chief Bill Foor said. A responding firefighter was sent to the hospital due to heat exhaustion.
