Meadville Central Fire Department, stretched thin for months due to unfilled positions, is closer to a full complement after City Council's meeting this week. But it will likely be several months more before all of the open spots are filled, according to Chief Evan Hasko.
Mayor LeRoy Stearns swore in one new full-time and one part-time firefighter Wednesday, bringing the current staff to 10 full-time members plus the one part-timer. Hasko expects another full-time firefighter to begin in August.
“I’m happy to see we’re starting to get new guys here and work toward getting back to a full complement,” Hasko said.
Peter Lewis, a Titusville native, will fill the full-time position.
