But that wasn’t the only high number that attracted local officials’ attention in the past month. Ordinance enforcement officer George Maudie told the supervisors that he has been concerned with the volume of homes and buildings that don’t properly display house numbers as required by the Indiana County 911 addressing system. “It has been a lot of research and paperwork because the people that own the buildings don’t always live there,” Maudie said. “There are so many of them that have no street addresses and it’s hard to send a letter to somebody when you have no idea who lives there.
