One person is dead and three firefighters were injured in a house fire in Shaler Township on Monday night. The first reports of the fire came in just before 9 p.m. when crews were called to the 900 block of Middle Road for reports of smoke showing from the home.
When crews first arrived, they had some trouble getting into the house.
“There were some difficulties accessing the structure itself due to clutter, so there were some difficulties gaining access into the building in multiple locations,” said Shaler Villa Volunteer Fire Company Chief Anthony Ferderbar.
Once inside, officials say the victim was found on the first floor.
