A woman made it out of an Allentown house struck by fire Tuesday afternoon, but was pronounced dead after she went back inside to try to save a cat, a city fire official said. The victim was one of three people home when the fire started about 1 p.m. at 101 S. Bradford St. in the city, fire Capt. John Christopher said. One resident was able to escape without assistance, and firefighters rescued an adult male "rather quickly," Christopher said. The resident who was rescued was taken by Allentown EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
